Strains are a very common injury in sport but can also unfortunately happen during day to day tasks. A strain is an injury to the muscle often caused by overloading a muscle or overstretching the muscle beyond its normal range. The severity can also vary from a slight pull all the way through to a complete rupture.
What can we do for you if you have suffered a strain?
On your first appointment we will assess the degree of the damage to the muscle and based on that we will be able to give you an approximate time frame as to how long the recovery will take with physiotherapy treatment. Your recovery may involve a combination of treatment in the clinic as well as a home exercise programme that is tailored exactly to your needs. We will also give you advice on other things you can modify at home to enhance your recovery and prevent recurrence. In the rare case we believe you have suffered an injury that is too severe for physiotherapy management and you would benefit from surgery, we can either refer you directly to one of the North West’s leading consultants .
